About Me

I'm a writer, editor, and creative strategist living among the redwoods and apple orchards of Sonoma County, California. Most of my career has been spent sharpening brand voices through excellent copy and creative direction.

Experience

Metadata Analyst, Disney+

October 2024 – Present

Over the past several months, I've assisted the Disney+ Ad Operations team with multiple projects. On a typical day, I'm analyzing and tagging content for editorial and ad markers in DAM software while ensuring compliance with WGA and DGA contracts.

Metadata Manager, Peacock

August 2021 – September 2024

In 2021, I was promoted to Manager of Peacock’s Metadata team. Since joining the team ahead of the service’s 2020 launch, I powered through three Olympic Games and the launch of WWE on Peacock.

Metadata Associate, Peacock

June 2020 – August 2021

I joined the Flock a few weeks before the streaming service’s July 2020 launch and have since heard more avian puns than I realized could exist in the English language.

Metadata Associate, NBCUniversal

June 2019 – June 2020

After moving to LA, NBC hired me to proofread metadata for the thousands of films and series on its new app. My role in the project required me to coordinate copy delivery from NBC’s cable brands, troubleshoot metadata issues, and compile daily reports for key stakeholders. As a result, I am now fluent in Kardashian.

Senior Editor & Music Editor, The Portland Mercury

February 2016 – May 2019

During the three years I worked as an editor at Portland, Oregon-based alternative weekly the Portland Mercury, I learned how to ride a bike and sword fight (not simultaneously), interviewed David Duchovny and John Waters, and enraged a community of Sasquatch hunters.

Marketing Assistant, Mike Thrasher Presents

April 2015 – January 2016

Near the end of my senior year I started working at Mike Thrasher Presents, a concert promotion company geared toward hardcore and heavy metal acts touring through the Pacific Northwest. That said, I spent a lot of time on the phone with Slayer fans and writing blog posts that required the use of words like “bangover” (i.e. what follows a night of vigorous headbanging).

Publicity Intern, Sub Pop Records

Summers of 2013 & 2014

In college I spent two summers living in Seattle, working in the gift shop at Tillicum Village on Blake Island, and interning at Sub Pop, where I tracked press coverage for bands on the label’s roster, wrote press releases, assembled mailers to music industry cognoscenti, and babysat a tiny terrier named Poncho.

Endorsements

"Working with CK is a dream. They have been instrumental in helping Peacock find its voice by creating our style guide, writing high-performing articles for our website, and editing everything from short copy to executive comms." Sarah Ricard, Editorial VP at Peacock

"While you might note the excellent writing and editing skills that would come with such a hire, CK also brings strong tech skills enabling the navigation and solving of complex systems, building processes, innovating in the space... CK also would be a great addition to your team culture. A strong team player, a manager who has grown into leading a team while we have worked together, CK's empathy and emotional IQ will prove invaluable." Tom Blaxland, Former SVP of Content Ops & Editorial at Peacock

“CK supported me at a time when I had no metadata team, no direct access to edit metadata in my internal product tooling, and just a matter of weeks before the national launch of our new streaming platform in the midst of a global pandemic. What a time to join a start-up (and remotely, at that)! We were putting the airplane together in the air while inventing the flight manual, and CK enthusiastically rolled up their sleeves to work alongside me. During my time collaborating with them over the next four years that unfolded, they proved themselves over and over. CK embodies the creative, constructive resourcefulness needed to craft new, innovative solutions and workflows, while upholding excellence in editing and the meticulous written standards needed for metadata to function at its best. But more importantly, CK cares about their fellow humans, maintains an invincible sense of humor, and is a joy to work with. If you are looking for your next infectiously wonderful leader who builds solid teams, models reliability, produces impeccable work, and has a strong comfort level with change management, hire CK.” Erin Rivero, Former Sr. Director of Editorial Creative at Peacock

"CK proved invaluable in steering the direction of the paper, and a very difficult redesign, while deftly handling various (and sometimes sticky) management situations. I would rehire
CK in a second and give them my highest recommendation." Wm. Steven Humphrey, Editor-in-Chief of the Portland Mercury
